Honduras trip

After being back from Honduras, I've had awhile to soak it all in! It was one of the best, if not the best, trips I've ever taken! It was amazing just to see how the Lord is working in my life and the lives around me. I could tell the Spirit was just speaking to all of us as we were there. I'm so grateful for Forgotten Children's Ministries and for their heart and dedication. It was truly an honor to work with them.

I'll try to get a layout of what we did day to day:

We all headed to airport super early: Barika and Shannon

After arriving in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, we headed to the mall for some lunch! Most of the group ordered this big thing! Looked yummy.

When we got to the shelter, the boys weren't there to welcome us like the usually would have! They were taking a nap when we arrived. There was a concert our night that was held at the church we went too. Usually they would let the incoming team stay back and rest but we are a bunch of young folks so I'm thankful we were able to enjoy it. Even though all their songs were in Spanish, it was still very encouraging to see Christ living in their hearts. Just how they expressed their love for Jesus was precious.

On Sunday we went to church and headed to Grace Farm for lunch. Grace Farm is where alot of the college boys and teenagers will stay. They are praying to raise enough money to have all the boys able to stay there. It will save lots of time and money instead of driving from the shelter to church. The church was right next to the Farm. It was a beautiful farm. After lunch we got to walk up to the big water tower. It was such a pretty view. Later that afternoon we were able to visit Infa. Infa is the orphanage in town. We were able to sing songs and do crafts with all the kids. There was several sweet moments that occurred while we were there. After heading back to the shelter, we put all the rice and beans, that we were going to hand out that week, into individual bags! Here's some pics from this day.

Monday-Wednesday we had around the same schedule. In the mornings, after breakfast and team member time, we handed out beans and rice to different homes and villages. We were split into different groups with a translator and when door to door sharing the love of Christ. People there were told they have Ben Catholic all their lives so we wanted to express that being a Christian is having a relationship with Jesus.

In the afternoons we would have VBS at the church with the boys and girls from the shelter and kids from the neighborhood! It was a great turn out!

This was from team time that we had every night. A time of reflection from that day and fellowship with the boys before bedtime.

Thursday, we went over to he villages for some shopping and then to a great place for lunch! It was a Mexican restaurant and we had steak! It was delicious. After lunch we headed up to the statue of Jesus Christ. That was a sight to see. We could see almost the whole city! It was beautiful!!

Friday came too early.... Sadly it was our time to go! Here are some remaining pictures that are dear to me!

I'm so beyond blessed for this awesome opportunity!!! I'm counting down the days until I can go back!

My Heart

Well it has been a while since I've posted and since I'm still new to this I thought I should make an effort to start doing this more often!!

Life has been so great lately because God has been a priority in my life. Before, I would just do my own thing and basically just live for myself. I had been praying to die to myself, so I can fully live for Jesus. I finally feel like I can say with joy that I love where God has me in life. The people He has placed in my life have been incredible friends, supporters, and accountability partners. I couldn't have asked for a better church to be apart of. It has truly been amazing seeing all our leaders and staff pour into the lives of our youth and college groups, mine included. I wasn't around much until this January because of school, but just getting to know our awesome youth group has been a blessing in itself. Seeing their love for Christ has been so encouraging to me as a leader. I am praying that that and myself  can just hate the things of this world and the flesh. Before you can have great relationships with others, we must get our relationship with the Lord on the right track. I've been so encouraged by my small group of girls, just keeping praying for each other to get in the word and dig deep. Not to just read what's on the surface of the page, but to study it and put scriptures into our daily lives.
James 1:22 says "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what is says."

I have been watching the Louie Giglio series called "Boy Meets Girl" and it has been awesome. He speaks so much truth. He goes through Genesis and talks about how a man wasn't made to be alone in life. God didn't make the mistake of creating a woman, He made a woman because He knew that the man shouldn't be alone. He takes about how the man should pursue the woman, which I love. He states "You do not want to marry someone who isn't in love with Jesus". If one has a beating heart for the Lord and the other doesn't, it's not going to work out. I pray for my future spouse that He may be so in LOVE with Jesus and it just flows on the outside so others can see Christ in Him. I can't help but smile when I read Jeremiah 29:11 "For I KNOW the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I love knowing that my God has a plan for my life. He didn't have to plan anything for my life, but he did. If you LOVE Him and DELIGHT in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4) Praying for the Lord's will to be done has been so much easier for me now because I feel like the Lord's desires have become mine. I never thought I would live in Huntsville after I moved away. The Lord had other plans for my life. Now, I couldn't be more grateful. Just seeing that all He has blessed me with just by being in a different city and the relationships I've made. I can't thank Him enough. What an AWESOME God we serve.

Nashville!

I headed to Nashville on Wednesday to get ready for the Awards show that night!! The Annual CMA awards has never been a disappointed and this year was no exception!! Carrie and Brad always do a fantastic job being the hosts! The jokes were great and her wardrobe was outstanding! They always make up a song to sing and love how they mentioned the divorce of Kim Kardashian and Bieber's baby scandal!! Classic!

Working the red carpet was a first time experience for me and it was a great one! All the volunteers had to line up and as each artist got out of the car we grabbed their assigned clipboard. I got to escort the legendary Lynn Anderson, her famous song was "Rose Garden". She was a hoot. She was using her flip camera to film everyone for her live feed. She even filmed me asking questions about myself. She was a very sweet lady!! Here is a picture of Lynn with her two US Marine escorts.

My friend who was behind me in line was suppose to escort Lionel Richie but his car didn't show up, instead Miss Lauren Alaina pulled up. As I saw her walk past me with him as her escort, I will admit, I was so envious of him!! But just being around her and all the other incredible artists I was having a blast!!!

Here are a few photos from the night:

I work with a great crew!! Thanks CMA!!

Here are a few of my favorite artists that I got to see up close:

Clearly everyone knows Carrie is my all time favorite (:

Love Miss Lauren!

Scotty!!

Luke's performance was awesome!!

Bumped into Miranda, almost stepping on her dress, oops!

Loved her dress!!!

We weren't aloud to have our phones to take photos so I got these from the Internet!! I enjoy working with CMA - the festival and the awards have been great experiences! Thank you to all my red shirts !!! Love you all(:

First post!

So this is my first post and I'm not really sure how all this works but I'm willing to try it out!!

I wanted to share with you all a little something that I've been thinking about today. I have been reminded today that Jesus wants to be our resting place, and wants him to go to him in good times and in bad. He has been my rock and my refuge through everything! I couldn't be more happy to be one of his daughters! The Lord answers our prayers 1 of 3 ways... Yes, Not Yet, or I've got something better in mind!!! Isn't that great!! I love that! :) Hope its a joyous day for everyone!!
